The GOAT battle has taken another twist as Cristiano Ronaldo comfortably beats Lionel Messi as the world’s most admired sportsman.
Ronaldo and Messi are arguably the greatest footballers in recent history, if not of all-time. Picking a winner between them for the greatest player of all-time mantle, otherwise known as ‘GOAT’, is another thing.
Football fans have constantly tried to compare them on their contrasting qualities, trying to separate them on countless ways. But one thing that can never be questioned is on who is the most popular out of the two, with Ronaldo always miles ahead.
The Juventus star once again came out on top of YouGov’s poll of the most admired sportsmen in the world, and the sixth most admired man in the world.
The former United States president Barack Obama, American business magnate Bill Gates, Chinese president Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and actor Jackie Chan are the only ones ahead of him.
Messi, meanwhile, finished in a distant 11th but two places ahead of NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Funny enough, YouGov got into the spirit of the GOAT debate themselves by showing just how much popular Ronaldo is than Messi.
The British market research organization complied its biggest-ever survey on discovering the most admired people on the planet, with over 45,000 people in 42 countries and territories interviewed.
And out of the 42 nations and territories, Ronaldo was ranked more popular in 32 compared to Messi’s 8.
